Biotime 2 in 1 (CEA/AFP) test kit has very important guiding significance in the diagnosis of liver cancer and can improve the accuracy of clinical diagnosis.
  • Product Detail

Introduction
AFP(Alpha-fetoprotein) is a major plasma protein produced by the yolk sac and the fetal liver during fetal development. Serum AFP levels decrease rapid after birth. The normal range of AFP for adults serum is usually less than 10ng/mL. It may increase during pregnancy result from the blood collection to fetus and thus can be measured in pregnant women as a screening test for certain developmental abnormalities such as aneuploidy.
Additionally, serum AFP level is elevated in some pathological conditions such as hepatocellular carcinoma, metastatic disease affecting the liver or germ cell tumor. Therefore AFP is widely used as a biomarker for cancer and evaluation for cancer treatments [1-2].
CEA (Carcinoembryonic antigen) describes a set of highly related glycoproteins involved in cell adhesion. CEA is normally produced in gastrointestinal tissue during fetal development, but the production stops before birth. Consequently, CEA is usually present at very low levels in the blood of healthy adults. However, the serum levels are raised in some types of cancer, which means that it can be used as a tumor marker in
clinical tests [3]
